History, Legal Environment and Resistence

Our conversation will be led by Hugh Esco, a member of the Green Alliance for Sex Based Rights, an officer of the Georgia Green Party.  Hugh has for years researched the pornography industry and its impact on the often trafficked 'performers', on consumers and their families and as a constributor to rape culture which poses a growing threat to the mental health of adolescent girls and young women; of the boys and men who want to be a part of their lives.  He will be sharing a presentation first developed five years ago, which examines the pornography industry, efforts by the church, state, the courts, feminists and others to regulate it; and which has recently been updated to share new material about the current state of feminist resistance to the monopoly currently controlling the industry.  After his presentation, we will open the floor for questions and discussion among the participants.
