Rosabeth Moss Kantor.  "Some effects of proportions on group life: Skewed sex ratios and responses to token women." [1977] https://www.jstor.org/stable/2777808#
Cited in Malcolm Gladwell's book, The tipping point: Overstories, superspreaders, and the rise of social engineering, this rather dry-sounding but well-known scholarly article in the American Journal of Sociology was actually a ground-breaking study of group dynamics upon the arrival and rise of "token" women in an organization.  Gladwell gives a good discussion of the significance of Kantor's research in his book, pp. 111-114.
