Georgia Green Party Rejects Platform Challenge to Support for Declaration on Women’s Sex-Based Rights State Convention rejects effort to repeal Platform language which got state party expelled by national party
At its May 18th, 2024 additional nominating convention, the Georgia Green Party rejected by a three-fourths majority, an opportunity to repeal its previous endorsement of the Declaration on Women’s Sex Based Rights, its promise to protect pediatric patients from the medical experimentation known as ‘gender medicine’, and to protect women’s sports and women’s spaces.
When the April 20th deadline came, among the proposals in the queue for consideration to amend the platform of the Georgia Green Party in this year’s cycle was one seeking to repeal the policy positions staked out four years earlier (at its February 22nd, 2020 nominating convention in Bonaire Georgia), which led to the expulsion of the Georgia Green Party from the Green Party of the United States. That action was the result of significant internal corruption documented in the minority report published by Jeff Sutter, an Indiana Green Party appointee to the Accreditation Committee and Alternate Delegate to the National Committee.
“When a political party no longer provides a platform suitable for the debate of vital matters of public policy, it demonstrates that it is not fit for purpose,” said Hugh Esco, who serves as Secretary for both the Green Alliance for Sex-Based Rights, and for the Georgia Green Party. “And it leaves a vacuum which must be filled by those who continue to practice faith that democracy and the ability of good ideas and good arguments to win support are the only suitable tools for securing the consent of the governed. Like too much of what used to pass for the political left, the national Green Party has been captured by authoritarian bullies who win by shutting down rather than winning debate; by imposing their ideology rather than building consensus as has been our history as a party.”
Internally, party advocates for the existing position brought as witnesses to the Platform Committee, Heather Brunskell Evans, a co-author of the Declaration, and Jamie Reed, a whistle-blower whose affidavit on her work in a Missouri gender clinic led to reforms in that state. Those hearings are now archived on the website of the Georgia Green Party.
The paper to repeal the party’s endorsement for the Declaration was introduced after the Stein Presidential campaign had taken repeated steps to exclude the Georgia Party from participation in Stein’s 2024 bid for the White House. Those developments from the Spring of this year were fully documented in an earlier press release on the subject.
A Lavender Caucus complaint led to an Accreditation Committee referral of a resolution to expel the Georgia party, known as GNC #1062 in voting before the National Committee. By the time that #1062 had been resolved, at midnight, June 21st, 2021, the (TQ+) Lavender Caucus, had led a sixteen-month campaign of vitriolic attacks in a hostile environment among the national committee, where policy discussions were countered with attacks featuring logical fallacies, ad-hominem being a favorite; quiet speculation about the economic interests of those driving the disruption; and which culminated with Mr. Sutter’s credentials as an Indiana Green Party alternate being prematurely revoked in a corruption of the Indiana Party’s own rules, and only hours before he was scheduled to publish his Minority Report to the National Committee. That episode was documented in a report by Teri Ulm, the outgoing co-chair of the Indiana Green Party.
A Dialogue Not Expulsion Caucus (DnE) arose among Greens to defend the Georgia Party from the abuse, and the national party from the assaults on its internal democratic practices. DnE’s work and research findings are documented on its website, now archived by the Gender Critical Greens PAC.
DnE Caucus veterans and other gender critical greens created the Green Alliance for Sex-Based Rights as a membership organization to,
inaugurate an explicitly pro-feminist, gender critical, women-led Green Alliance as a political association, independent of corporate parties and influence, uniting member state organizations to engage in elections and other political activities, whether inside or outside the Green Party of the United States.
GASBR continues to build its membership towards this end.
